It’s the final Monday and Weekly Wisdom for 2022, and the last piece of the soul-full living series!
What we’re talking about today is expansion, timing, and knowing we don’t just start fresh in a new year. And I know so many of us, myself included, have a lot of pressure right now to talk about goals and ambitions for 2023. Even this morning, I started to panic a little bit about the upcoming days and how I only have so much time to give to XYZ goals before the new year starts…… *deep breath*

Why We Need to Expand In Our Everyday, Not Just with the New Year
Let’s not call this a “problem,” pounding out goals, but this mode of living feels a little too constrictive. How so?
- We don’t have to wait for the new year to expand and learn more about who we are and how we live our lives. Honestly, each day is a new opportunity to do this.
- Even though, we see massive goals and resolutions, there’s no shame in smaller steps. In truth, smaller steps can be more sustainable in the long game.
You see a lot of goals online or in conversations right now and will in the upcoming weeks. Things like: losing 20 pounds, writing a book, moving across the country, finding a new job, starting a business, etc. These are all beautiful goals and worth going after and considering. But here’s one truth:
When you make a goal and the action steps that follow allow fluidity in the process and your schedule. And as you think of what you want in this new year, think of what you want now, why, and why now.
Let the Self-Pressure Go
You don’t have to wait until next week to work on these things, but you also don’t have to put so much pressure on yourself to succeed by March 1 with this “to-do list.” Take it from me, I am the queen of self-pressure, high expectations, and hard work. But like we’ve already talked about here, in the other series posts and even just on FSW, we have to give ourselves love and grace and compassion while we continue to live in this world that is already high-pressure and feels like high stakes.
When we think about soul-full living and what this means, it means living and working in this world with an ebb and a flow. Every day is an opportunity to find out who we are and live in our power. Yes, you can do it through resolutions, but you can also do this “work” through your own wisdom, rest, recharging, focus, and discipline. There’s never one way to do life.
It’s up to us to find out whether we are doing the rigorous cha-cha, and diving into our expansion and goals with quick discipline, or when doing something smoother like a waltz, where there’s a different movement to completing what we set out to do.
You know best how you work, accomplish your tasks, and expand yourself. Just remember to take the pressure off (as often as you can) and love who you are, and who you’re becoming, through the process. This is key because we’ve all been conditioned to go-go-go and it’s not sustainable.
Soul-Full Living is Holistic, Balanced, and Life-Changing
That’s why it’s so important to learn about yourself, un-learn conditioning, and expand while sustaining your needs. Every day is an opportunity to challenge what we’ve learned and walk towards who we are at our very core. As you do this, you’ll be able to move forward in small ways, or large ones, and keep changing your life. It’s entirely possible, but it means that you and I have to unlearn the go-go go lifestyle, or “slaying those goals,” and relearn how to live in this world from our soul and our wisdom within as well. I’m doing it myself, and I’m more than happy to help you do it too.
So let’s sum up the series and what we’ve talked about again:
- Part 1: Recognizing when it’s not our job to “babysit”
- Part 2: Reducing “the noise” in your environment, within yourself, and in the roles you carry
- Part 3: Defining and creating You Time
- Part 4: Committing to your expansion every day
- Today: Why it’s important to expand every day (not just in certain times) and allow for fluidity in it
As we wrap up this year and start a new one, at least on the calendar, think about these five memos, my friends. Then start to embody what you deeply, intuitively know about yourself and how you want to operate on this planet both professionally and personally. And when you’re ready, allow your unfolding to happen from today moving forward!
